My career began in Florida and brought me here to Nashville in the early 80’s. I worked in a salon that was departmentalized, meaning I specialized in a certain aspect of hair care. I performed haircuts and perms and I did a lot of them. When the 90’s came along color was becoming more in demand with baby-boomers beginning to discover gray hair.

I placed my cutting and perming skills aside and began to pursue hair color diligently. Logics hair color was Clairol’s top of the line crème color system and it revolutionized hair color forever. They were the front runners in American hair color technology. I explored all opportunities for education they offered. I traveled… read books… and trained my eye to distinguish underlying tones in all color. I spent hours in fabric stores and paint samples. I excelled in this field yet I wasn’t satisfied. In 1999 I proceeded in becoming a board Certified hair colorist. They were a prestigious and highly honored group that was rigorously tested. It included written and oral testing, and implemented several different segments of practical examinations. That year I achieved my goal. Where to now? I am the proud owner of Baxter and Company where we are committed to raising the bar. I have surrounded myself with a group of professionals that share the passion within this industry. My acquired knowledge is now being happily shared with young aspiring hairdressers. We as a team have established that this continual is what separates us from the others.

Nicks’ famous salon is in Soho, in New York City. We just love this guy! He’s quite the educator and very passionate about this industry.

These waves are not your traditional perms… its geared to those folks that want a wearable soft curl pattern.

All estheticians must be licensed in the state that they are working in. They complete at least 750 hours of training (depending on the state) and pass both a written and a practical, or hands-on, exam.

A good esthetician also completes many hours of post-graduate education, and strives to stay abreast of the latest developments in skin care.

Estheticians are not medical doctors so they can’t diagnose skin conditions, prescribe medications, or suggest treatment for any skin condition outside of cosmetic products. They can perform treatment complementary to a doctor’s treatment (like extracting blackheads and gently exfoliating the skin). Some estheticians work closely with dermatologists, either in-office or through a referral system.

Ergo ionic brushes feature either heat-resistant nylon bristles or in the case of the ionic polishing paddle, heat resistant pins. The heat-resistant nylon fiber bristles on all ergo brushes are infused with a tourmaline crystal complex which creates negative ions to penetrate and condition the hair. The ions are released when tension and heat are applied helping to maintain healthy hair and repair cuticle damage. When the cuticle is closed, hair color resists fading from UVA/UVB rays.
